PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment, also referred to as the “Vampire Facial", is a popular treatment that uses the body’s own natural regenerative properties to tighten, tone, and repair the skin’s appearance and elasticity. This scientifically-proven method is done by taking a sample of your own blood plasma that is rich in collagen-boosting platelets and is re-injected into the skin, resulting in enhanced firmness and the ability to produce new skin cells.
Depending on your chosen treatment area, the delivery method for your PRP typically will be either via micro-needling or via injection. The small skin injections or micro-needling create a small opening or "wound" that triggers inflammation, increasing the concentration of platelets in the area. This leads to the healing of the injection site and surrounding tissue, which results in new, healthier skin cells being generated.
PRP has many benefits which include:
- Lightening dark circles around the eyes;
- Tightening and firming sagging skin by boosting collagen levels;
- Combating visible signs of aging;
- Hair restoration.
Not just for the face areas, PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) can be used to improve skin elasticity for other body areas such as the back of hands, as well as being used to encourage scalp hair growth and regrowth.
Is PRP Treatment Safe?
While PRP treatment is safe for most people, there are medical conditions that may affect the platelets, making them fail to deliver the expected results. PRP is not recommended for anyone who has any of these medical conditions:
- Hepatitis C
- HIV or AIDS
- Any type of blood cancer
- Cardiovascular disease that requires taking a blood thinner
- Skin cancer

What to expect at your treatment?
Our registered cosmetic nurse will draw a small amount of blood from your arm which will then be placed in a medical device called a centrifuge. Using this device, the blood is separated into layers, with one of the layers containing a high concentration of platelets.
We highly recommend using a numbing cream prior to your treatment. We include this with our treatment packs, however, you are more than welcome to apply your own just before your appointment if you prefer.
Depending if you choose to add a skin prep treatment such as microdermbrasion prior to your PRP session (which we highly encourage for the best results!), your aesthetician will start with a quick cleansing the skin. After cleansing and once the numbing cream has come into effect your aesthetician will begin your treatment.
For face procedures such as the 'Vampire Facial' and some hair restoration procedures, your aesthetician will use a method of micro-needling to infuse your high-concentrated platelets over the face.
For under eyes and some hair restoration procedures your nurse will inject directly into areas of concern where they can stimulate collagen production and the natural repair process.
Once finished, and if you have chosen to add to your treatment we would then place you under an LED to complete the session.

How many treatments will I need?
For optimal results we recommend a series of 3 or more treatments of PRP spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Your aesthetician can advise a more specific treatment schedule for you at your first appointment.
How long until I see results?
Results from PRP injections can take up to 8-12 weeks to become apparent with a natural increase in collagen and elastin. Results are very subtle and gradual.
The results of PRP are long-lasting, but not permanent. Longevity depends on your state of health, smoking status, condition of the skin pre-treatment, indication for treatment and compliance with aftercare. We cannot guarantee the longevity of the results.

Add a Skin Prep Treatment
For the best results, we recommend prepping your skin with an express microdermabrasion or dermaplaning to get your skin ready for your treatment.

Prepare to Return
As much as we'd love just one session to be enough, with any skin treatment consistency is key in achieving your skin goals.
PRP typically requires 3 to 4 regular sessions for optimal results. -
Prepare to Return
This goes for before and after your skin treatment. Always opt for a good SPF if needing to be outdoors and where possible avoid excessive exposure
