Collagen Induction Therapy (or CIT for short) is a unique treatment that uses micro-needles (typically loaded into a Dermapen) to gently glide over the skin. These needles create tiny punctures in the surface of the skin that trigger an immune response, and subsequently the production of new collagen.

The treatment can go by many names including Micro-Needling, Skin-Needling, Dermapen or as we've just referred to it, Collagen Induction Therapy and while all of these names can be used interchangeably, there can also be differences in how the treatments are performed.

The punctures produced during a micro-needling treatment also act as pathways for topical nutrients to be infused deep within your skin to correct your concerns. We use Hyalauron which works to alleviate dry skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and speeds up wound healing.

CIT is a minimally invasive treatment that can provide relatively quick results in firming your skin and leaving you feel rejuvenated.

Not just for the face, skin needling can be used on the neck and decolletage, as well as body areas; in particular for the back of hands to reduce the signs of aging and the stomach and thighs to help with cellulite and stretch marks.

Although the treatment can be performed without it, we highly encourage the use of numbing cream before the treatment so we can work to a depth that will typically be too painful without.

What to expect at your CIT Treatment?

We highly recommend using a numbing cream prior to your treatment. We include this with our treatment packs, however, you are more than welcome to apply your own just before your appointment if you prefer.

Depending if you choose to add a skin prep treatment such as microdermbrasion or dermaplaning prior to your Dermapen session (either of which we highly encourage for the best results!), your therapist will start with a quick cleansing the skin. After cleansing and exfoliating and once the numbing cream has come into effect your aesthetician will begin your Dermapen treatment.

For the treatment you will have a handheld wand run over your face (or other treatment area) typically in a small circular motion. It is not uncommon to draw blood from the process in certain areas, in particular if you have thin skin. Please be assured your equipment is fully sterilised prior to use and all needles are single use only.

Once finished we will apply a finishing ointment such as paw paw to calm the skin and depending on your package may put you under an LED.

After care

Your skin will be sensitive after your treatment and as such you need to treat it with care. Use a gentle cleanser to wash your skin (like Cetaphil) and if possible avoid applying makeups like foundations for 24-48 hours after treatment. Your skin may also be more susceptible to sunburn in the few days after you treatment. As always, we recommend using a high SPF sunscreen and a hat if planning on any outdoor activities.

Suggestions to Better Your Treatment

Your skin can highly benefit from regular Micro-Needling appointments and we offer discounts for pre-purchasing a package of treatments.
It can be beneficial to prepare your skin with a Microdermabrasion or Dermaplaning treatment prior to your session to increase serum absorption.
Depending on what results you are hoping to achieve you may benefit from upgrading to our 5pin multi-needle treatment instead. Another form of micro-needling, our special 5pin head works deeper than our typical single needle micro-needling treatments working to provide more serum delivery while also reducing time and pain.

We highly suggest following your treatment up with an LED session one week after your initial appointment.
