HIFU - High Intensity Focused Ultrasound

HIFU - High Intensity Focused Ultrasound

HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound and is a safe and effective Skin Lifting treatment designed for anti-aging, face lifting, body contouring, and sculpting. HIFU works by sending ultrasonic waves through each layer of skin heating the tissue which encourages tightening and collagen growth. This treatment is the next generation in advanced nonsurgical facelift treatments for the face, neck & chest.

HIFU targets the deep structural layer of the skin that other treatments cannot, by accelerating the body’s own healing process in the face and neck areas. This stimulates sagging skin to tighten resulting in lifting and tightening of the skin, as well as the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.

HIFU achieves amazing visible lasting results NATURALLY.

Benefits of the HIFU facelift treatment:

  • Non-surgical facelift;
  • Lifts and firms the chin/jaw area;
  • Lifts & tightens the neck area;
  • Lifts & tightens the cheeks;
  • Reduces wrinkles;
  • No damage to the surface of the skin;
  • No post-treatment downtime.

Body and abdominal sculpting HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is used to target stubborn fat on the abdomen through focused ultrasonic waves.

The HIFU skin tightening treatment destroys the subcutaneous fat tissue and causes tightening and lifting of abdominal skin. Unlike fat freezing, the high frequency of the ultrasound wave results in heating under the skin, therefore, destroying the fat cells and causing a contraction in the collagen fibres to tighten the skin at the same time. The treated cells are then flushed away by the body’s natural lymphatic removal process.

What to expect at your treatment?

As this is a non-invasive treatment, you will not require much or if any preparation prior to the session, however for face areas you will typically receive a cleansing to remove any dirt or makeup before starting. Your therapist may also mark up the treatment area with a non-permanent pen.

Your therapist will then start the treatment by applying a gel to the area before using a handheld wand which will emit the ultrasound waves. This will be done in sections and generally at a slow pace. While most clients do not feel a thing, it is also not uncommon to feel a mild discomfort. Typically each treatment area will take approximately 20 minutes.

Day before HIFU treatment

As you approach the day of your treatment ensure that you don’t have any cold sores or fever blisters in the treatment area so that these can be treated quickly with an anti-viral medication. You’ll only be able to undergo HIFU treatment once these have disappeared.

Day of your HIFU treatment

On the day of your treatment, don’t apply any makeup or moisturiser to the treatment area.

After Care

It is completely normal for the treated area to feel a bit tender, slightly swollen and flushed or hot to touch. To help ease these minor side effects, treat the area in the following way:

* Do not apply an ice pack as this can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment
* Avoid using tweezers, waxes and depilatory creams until at least 3 days after the treatment
* Avoid hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms and heavy exercise for a couple of days.
* Use only a light exfoliator and moisturiser on the day of the treatment, but after that your normal skin cleansing and care regime can be resumed.
* Apply a sunblock with a SPF of at least 30 on the day of the treatment and subsequent days, to avoid irritation from direct exposure to sunlight.

Further information and a downloadable copy can be found on our After Care page

How many treatments will I need?

We highly suggest a follow-up treatment for the same area approximately 6 weeks later. Your aesthetician can discuss a more specific timeline with you at your appointment.

How long until I see results?

Some results may be seen in around 1-2 weeks after your treatment, however most results are typically after 8-10 weeks.

Get the best out of your treatment

  • Combine Your Treatments

    Depending on your desired results you may also benefit from Fat Freezing and/or ToneUP Body Sculpting sessions.

  • Go Beyond the Face

    The neck and decolletage can often be forgotten about but they are just as important! Consider adding these to your treatment area.

  • Avoid Excessive Sun

    This goes for before and after your skin treatment. Always opt for a good SPF if needing to be outdoors and where possible avoid excessive exposure
